I really want to become an equine vet, therefore want to do a degree in veterinary medicine. I also love dogs but it's not that I don't like others animals, it's just I'm not as interested in them as I am in horses and dogs. Would I still be okay studying veterinary medicine?

You'll be fine as long as you realize that you will be studying other animals and be expected to have a basic understanding of their biology. Go in with an open mind because your interests may change.

No you don't a lot of people have preferences, however you need a basic interest in them or at least see them as a path to where you want to be. You'll spend plenty of time studying cattle and other species. As well as a significant time spent working on farms during your first few years
