    Which one do you prefer?

I prefer the backpack, since it distributes the weight evenly on the body. Usually can carry more than a messenger bag as well. But I'd like to hear why someone prefers the messenger bag.

    Definitely backpacks.

I don't like the thought of my shoulder popping out because of a heavy bag. :erm:

I'd go for the backpack as they are way cooler and you can carry more than a messenger bag

I find the backpacks to be more comfortable, messenger bags tend to apply too much pressure to the should and I am left with pain and redness afterwards.

For everyday things like work and shopping? Messenger bag or a man purse

For traveling and what not a back pack easily.

I think messenger bag helps if you need a lot of compartments and you are going to carry paperwork or files. At almost all other occasions, backpack it better.

Always backpacks. I generally carry quite a load so I can carry one almost all say without it hurting, whereas messenger bags kills my shoulder.
