I'm about to go into 5th year and do my highers, and I'm thinking at the end of this year I want to go to uni rather than staying on and doing more highers or advanced highers. I want to study forensic science and I'll have just turned 17 by the end of 5th year. I just wondered if anyone's done this and what your personal experience with it was? Is it a good idea? A bad one?
Personally, I think 17 is really young to go to uni. Most of the people I know who started uni at 17 regret going so early. If you don't want/need to do more highers or advanced highers, I recommend taking a year out to either work/travel/volunteer/something to get more life experience. That experience will be highly beneficial when it comes to securing internships and will also make you value your education a little more.
