Two sets of footprints littered the beach,
My heel was caught on something sharp in the sand,
Grains turned a red, embarrassed shade; then she turned up uninvited,
The world shifted, as a beautiful sunset melted into the sea,
Fire orange stark on the glistening blue, grey.
The tide was creeping up on us; so was the dark.
The sand, once white was murky brown.
Three sets of footprints littered the beach,
Mine, stained red remained a good distance,
Hers, uninvited, next to his.
