I wondered where the Union Jobs (shop would be ideal, but also bar etc) are viewable from online and when they are likely to be published?

The careers service are based at Manor House on Lewes Road, if you need part-time work popping in there wouldn't be a bad idea.
I would suspect actually going in and talking to the different bars etc would be a good bet though, lots of people want the jobs so make the extra effort might help you stand out
