My brother is in a big dilemma!!!
He has a diploma in architecture (part 2) and a couple of weeks ago he started working for a small architectural firm. He is getting paid a lot less than what is RIBA recommended (in London £24-£27k... He only gets £16k even though he does exactly the same job as his friends who work in bigger firms, use the same programs etc)

He recently had an interview with a company of builders and craftsmen who are looking for a Project Manager. They do renovations, extensions etc and want a project manager to oversee the projects they get. He was offered the job. They told him during his 3 months probation he'll be working as self employed £15/hour and he'll need to tell them every week how many hours he did. After he passes his probation they'll employ him so he'll stop being self employeed. You might guess the dilemma.. This is a complete change of careers.
    - Do you think the fact they want him as self employeed (they guarantees £500/week) is concerning?
    - If my brother was to pursue this career as project manager would working for a company of builders and craftsmen look not as strong on his cv?
    - As a whole, is a project manager a more promising career to that of an architect?

In anticipation of your response... Thanking you loads!!!
