I recently graduated from university with first class honours and having been in education most of my life and already worked for a year - I feel that I deserve a break on holiday somewhere.

The thing is, I have not been applying for any jobs and my family are telling me not to go now as they require some assistance from me. So I am planning to go end of August as a result and it is cheaper for me too.

Thing is, will this negatively affect me? I want to get a graduate job and I don't mind starting in October - or should I not go on holiday at all?

It is a tough situation and I wished I went in June

    Please advise.

    Thanks

If you are only applying for a graduate job at this point in July, there's little chance you will get one with a start date in the first couple of weeks of September anyway. Grad schemes will be full and individual grad roles will have flexible start dates.

    Here's the approximate timings -

Make an application - wait until closing date of application
1-2 weeks later get an invite to first round interview 2 weeks later (3-4 weeks total)
Wait another week for results, get a second round interview a week later (5-6 weeks total)
Get an offer one week later (might be a day or two) and discuss start dates - the expectation will be about 4 weeks later, 6 weeks if relocation is required (10 weeks + in total)

I see, so what are you trying to say?

Am I right in saying that I can still apply AFTER I come back from holiday?

Why do people always feel the need to say they have a "first class honours", every degree is an honours degree unless you have an ordinary degree.

Start applying now - you are already 9 months too late! Apply, apply, apply, go on holiday, apply and hopefully at some point, get an interview. Start applying now, go on holiday, it'll take way longer than you expect to get a job.

    True say, true say.

Gonna still plan going on my holiday late and get back to applying soon. Really want to see Australia

    Please advise.

I think the queue starts somewhere just outside Maidstone and if you join it today you might get to the front by September.
