    Hi all,

A little bit stressed here. I've applied to Swansea to do Economics which I was certain I wanted to do in January. However since then I've been doing more reading and research and really feel like I'd be more suited to Finance. I find it more interesting and the careers it can lead to appeal to me more than Economics.

As these two subjects are closely linked I wondered if it would be possible for Swansea to switch me?

Would it be best to ring/email now or wait until I get my results? A teacher at my school seems to think that they will be open to letting me switch once I arrive at the uni.

    Thanks

Call admissions. Make a note of who you speak to, and follow up with an email.

You can nearly always transfer between business school programmes with ease so long as you're in first year.

Often you can even do a first year in economics and then just start second year of finance like that...

With a degree in economics, you can certainly have a very good career in finance afterwards. It wouldn't limit you at all.

Rang admissions and they said the change is fine and I just need to e-mail them for them to change it. A lot less of a hassle than I imagined, very happy!

Good to hear as long as it's what you wanted to study although just to let you know you were at no disadvantage re jobs with economics as this would even open more doors than finance

Yeah I agree there's not much difference in the careers they can lead to but I read up on some of the course materials etc and think I will also enjoy studying Finance a lot more

Yeah, that's what I did. I originally applied for English Lang and Lit but realised I hated Language at A-level so decided to switch to English Lit and Classics. It was a piece of cake.

Swansea Uni is amazing! A piece of me will always miss it!

I hope you get in if it's conditional and if you do, all the best!

Yeah it's conditional but fairly confident I've done enough. Thanks!
