Remember to photograph your room and list anything that is damaged and bring it to the landlords attention on the first day you move in and get it signed - especially with UNITE accommodation. Moved into a room with damaged carpet and mattress then got charged for cleaning the carpet and new mattress even though the mattress was skanky and I had to use a mattress cover. Lost my deposit. Be careful with UNITE.They don't check you in properly and then you lose £500 deposit for damage you haven't caused.
