Last year when starting uni as a Fresher we were sent all the registration information, Fresher's week information, and module/timetable information etc. in August I believe it was.

I was just wondering, now that we're going into second year, if we will be getting something similar sent to us?
Do we get Fresher's week information sent to us still, or just e-mails?
And I guess timetable information depends on department, but I presume must get sent to us somehow at some point at least?

This apparent keenness is due to wanting to book a long weekend away during term time by the way, so would be useful to know what lectures I may or may not have on a Friday.

Your registration information will arrive with your statement of results.

You won't get Fresher's info, you'll have to visit SheffieldUnion.com for that sort of thing.

Timetables you'll have to find out yourself through the SSID website, in co-operation with the homepage of your Department.

Ah yes, I just saw online when I got my results yesterday something that said about registration packs being sent out.

Also found the timetables on the SSID website, although they're still 2006-2007 ones for now. I wonder when they'll change

    Thanks!

There is rarely any change at all in the timetable from one year to the next, so you can take it as a pretty sound reference point.

    I shall become diurnal.
Awake in the morning for lectures.
    Sleep in the afternoon.
Awake in the evening for socialising.

I am a science student - how is it I only have 7 contact hours???????? Ridiculous!

I think I have about 3 days off in final year, but my department does my timetable as the medical school like to be different!! I think the aim is that I spend those days off collecting data for my research project...

In fact, if you want to be involved in a study into how we maintain the ability to fuse 2 images horizontally when i try and split them apart vertically... PM me!

I seriously think the medical school is run by a bunch of fools.

It's the end of second year which shows their incompetence best.

After the easter hols the medics are revising/taking end of year exams, everyone else is going out as they've just got back from holiday and most people's lectures are coming to an end. Ok, so at this point we can see it's a bit silly, but understandable, and I guess....

.... then then after the medic exams, they have a holiday, interestingly this is a few weeks before everyone else's exams being, ok, so the tables have turned, now it's the medics waking people up in the night..... but it gets worse....

....after a few weeks, the medic holiday ends and they go on placement, generally consisting of early mornings..... at exactly the time when everyone else finishes their exams and start going on one giant piss up.

In a house of nearly half medics I can say that easter-->summer at the end of second year will not be your happiest times.

They must do things like this on purpose, surely no one can be that stupid?

Its because you don't study medicine in years, you study in phases. But agreed, the medical school are an entity in their own right and do seem to be a bit backwards.
