I have applied online for a job with M&S several times and was just wondering what they are looking for? How difficult is it to be selected and what does it depend on?

    Thank you.

The job description/person spec should give you this info. Do as much research as you can about what they're looking for and the company culture. I'd imagine M&S jobs are quite competitive.

Hi alleycat, you are required to fill out some online questionnaires. They seem straightforward and you pick an option but I have not been selected at this time. I don't know why though.

If they haven't given you feedback (try asking) then there isn't much you can do. Talk to a careers advisor maybe about how to fill in these forms. Think about the STAR method and whether you gave enough evidence to show specific skills and that you've done your homework about the job and company.

Got a job at M&S at 16, I'm now 18 and still there. You'd be surprised at the people they take on, so as long as you show you can engage with customers (customer service is HUGE at M&S) and be flexible with overtime, I'm sure you'll be fine. They're very considerate about school/university (at least they were at my store) and look great as a Saturday job. Good luck.

Hi, I am sure that is true. It is getting through the online questionnaire part. It is strange that you would not be selected as most questions are straightforward.
