Ive seen that for many courses ive missed the gcse requirement by 1 grade ( example being that ive achieved B,A for double science when they asked for A,A)
Should i even bother applying for the course or is there a chance i might still be offered a place?

Firstly it depends how related that subject is to your course; if you are not doing anything science related then I'm sure they can allow it. If it's a subject linked to your course, it might be worth contacting them just to make sure. Either way, unis usually look at A-Levels more than GCSE's themselves so you could get away with it anyhow.

If universities go to the trouble of specifying GCSE grades above the standard 5 passes, then they mean it. They have decided that is the base level of attainment below which they think you won't cope with the course. They are often much less flexible on GCSEs than A levels. Call and ask first before wasting a slot on your Ucas form on somewhere that will filter out your application at the first hurdle.
