Hi! I was just wondering because I'm not quite sure what my school does because I haven't asked yet. I just wanted to get an image in my head when everyone usually does it. Also did you go to open evenings? Did you do interviews?

Hi Do you mind if I answer this question. Btw I'm in yr 12 going into yr 13. I started applying for sixth form (my sixth form) back in October 2014. I also applied to a grammar school in January 2015 and I got invited to a careers guidance session (an interview) with the deputy head because the head of sixth form wasn't there. I didn't go to the open evening for either though but I got the prospectus for both.

I applied in november and december double check with your actual sixth form as these dates differ and I had 2 interviews for 2 separate sixth forms in january and yes I did have an open evening for both and im starting yr12 this september hopes this helps

your school will tell you everything in good time so don't worry about that

i personally applied to three schools (my own school as well as two academically selective ones) - i went to open evenings for all three around october - november time. i had entrance exams in the two selective schools (december - january) and interviews for all three, although the interview at my own school was more confirming my options and discussing what i planned to do in the future. the interviews at the selective schools were more competency based; one got me to solve a seemingly simple maths problem in an unfamiliar way and the other was a discussion about maths. these happened in january and february respectively.
