Hello there! anyone who have experienced medical or nursing placement with Czech Hospital Placements study program? This one http://chpprogram.com/
I am currently on my gap year so I would like to gain some extra experience in cardiology/cardiovascular surgery during this free time.. It seems that the program is new, so can anyone help? Is is truth that you have a chance to choose the department for shadowing by yourself? That would be nice..

Unless you're a Czech student wanting to gain experience of the Czech medical system, I don't understand why a British student would want to pay >£800 for something that they could do for free at home.

I agree with Etomidate, it is a very expensive way to get work experience that you can do for free in the UK. If you are keen to spend time doing a placement in Czech Republic I would suggest waiting until you are at medical school. I spent 4 weeks doing a plastic surgery placement in Prague with the International Federation of Medical Students exchange program: http://ifmsa.org/introduction-to-ifmsa-exchanges/
It's run by medical students so costs are minimal. You can exchange with another medical student from another country, so for me my exchange partner lived in my student house and I lived in her halls. She went to my placements and I went to hers, so the time I was there counted as part of my time at medical school. I think you would get more out of an experience like this when you have started your training and can do more as well. You can also do trips like this for your elective and arrange it directly with the hospital rather than via a company, so there will be plenty of opportunities in the future that are generally a lot better value for money.
