Everything was going fine until I tried to tune the G string. My tuner says the G is in the right tune but it doesn't sound right and the string is quite loose. Does anyone know whats wrong with it?

How old are the strings? It could be time for a replacement.

Is it in the right octave? Otherwise yeah it might be to do with the strings. I haven't changed my acoustic for ages and ages and often the e string sinks down and touches the board making it sound the first fret/the f all the time.

I'll try it again later and see how it goes
