when we were in school before summer holidays, we discussed uni life and my friend asked me if i'll ever drink alcohol. I replied with a no, and she was shocked...She says ''how are you going to socialise when youre in uni? everyone goes to clubs and drink. if you dont, you wont have friends''

what in the actual f...i will not change my ways to conveniently suit others and make friends, im sure others who do not want to drink won't drink either. why is she talking like she experienced uni before like...

Ignore her. You'll meet the right sort of friends who are right for you. If you go out and change your ways, chances are you wont really meet real friends but temporary ones. Friendship doesn't come about from drinking, excessive socialising etc, it comes about from meeting like minded people who you get along with.

    You will be fine.
Big chunks of uni do orientate around alcohol and the bar. If you dont drink or dont wnat to, then dont. Learn to make a coke last or pick friends that dont drink or activities that involve doing something other than drinking. What tends to happen is that non drinkers tend to make drinkers uncomfy, so they inisist you should drink as they dont think you cna be having a good time.

If you get decent friends this wont happen. If you are firm and say you dont wnat to drink, then they should get the message. You cna socialise perfectly well without alcohol although its a bit strange when everyone else is drunk and you arent.

She's foolish. I'm always around people who smoke and drink and guess what I don't! Just make sure you aren't being a party pooper.

You'll be fine, if you end up in a situation with drinks just order something like vodka and coke, minus the vodka
