I failed my first year of medicine due to severe extenuating circumstances and have been given the chance to re do the year as a first attempt. Is there ANY chance of transferring into first year of medicine into any London university? The reason for this is that I need to be living at home for medical reasons. Thanks

Its not a normal thing. However, if you have extreme mitigating circumstances, i.e. to receive treatment, there may be a small chance. However no one on here is going to be able to tell you. On Tuesday you need to start contacting medical schools and see what they say.

You will still need to meet their standard entry criteria and this late in the year it might not be a very easy thing to organise. But like I say, the only people who can really comment on this are the medical schools.

I would be doubtful about that possibility but there's nothing lost in asking the question.

I have no idea of the circumstances but would it be an option to ask for deferment of the offer to start first year again? This may help, but only if you believe the medical circumstances requiring you to live at home are likely to be resolved.

    Just a thought.

Some medical schools do allow transfers due to extenuating circumstances, but they often have to be pretty severe and both medical schools have to agree to the transfer.

There is no harm at all in trying.
