During the past year of A2 i had decided that i wanted to do a gap year and then, partially because i didn't know what grades to expect, apply for 2017 entry knowing what uni's i had a chance at getting into. However, i now am really unsure of this decision. Many of my friends have hated their gap years and i just feel like i'm ready. Is there anyway that despite not having gone through the UCAS process yet, i could now complete it and still apply? Thanks x

You can still apply for 2016 entry up until the 20th September! The downside is that it'll be through clearing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but the problem is that you can only apply for whatever courses are still accepting applicants, meaning that the course you want to do at a specific university may already be full, and hence not in clearing. Also, finding accommodation near your university may/may not be problematic. Depends on where you go, really...

I'm in this position too! I applied after 30th June so I'm in clearing.. But what do you do about applying for a student loan? Would you just wait till you have a place af a uni after results day? I'm quite worried about that 😬

Apply as soon as possible, i.e. now. It's quite likely that it will still be late, but not as late as if you wait until results day. If you don't take up a place, the loan application simply subsides. Put down the course you think it is most likely you will receive an offer for, and it can be changed later, as thousands of people have to do during clearing.
