Paid during masters

Does anyone know if there is a recommended maximum number of hours masters students should work, or what the expected number of self-directed hours is per contact hour?

i would stick to 12-16 hours personally. Depends on course and how intensive it is.

Yeah that sounds about right for me too.
You can do one part time over 2 years which is what I did, and say work 20-25 hours per week (though pesky work have ended up making me do about 30, which feels a bit like 'nightmare mode' sometimes).
