My daughter is about to start year 11 and would like to know
What would you recommend I get for the start of year 11? Things that would be helpful to me throughout the year.

A revision file, if you haven't already. It's a good idea to put your notes / revision together all in one place, and start revising, as soon as possible. It makes it a lot easier to learn things that way.
Basic supplies like pens and pencils, etc. Make sure you also have all the equipment you need for Maths, like calculators, protractors, etc. and any other subjects that require certain equipment (e.g you may need a dictionary for languages).
Coloured pens and highlighters. Some people might cover these under basic supplies, but I'm exaggerating it - they are so important as colours are extremely useful to help you learn as much as possible - trust me, you WILL need these.
Paper, for notes. Easily forgotten!
Any relevant textbooks, and revision guides if you want them. (although revision guides are useful, they aren't necessary; I couldn't afford any myself, so I resorted to the internet which, if you find the right site, is just as good).
I can't think of anything else in particular, I think it's more about getting yourself in the right frame of mind instead of getting new things. Just the same as you do every year, I think (apart from the above if you don't have those aha). Good luck, work hard, and you'll do brilliant. And enjoy it! ^.^A word of advice. GCSEs are simply a springboard to success - it makes it easier, sure, but without them you can still jump that hurdle! Don't let the pressure get to you, and remember if you don't succeed, there are still ways to get there.
