Most people walk at about or just under 4 miles per hour.

1.4 miles is not far.

It takes me about 15 minutes to walk one mile. A mile really isn't far at all. I easily walk about 12 miles per day.

How long is a mile?
As long as a piece of string.

its not the size that matters, its what you do with it that counts.

You can't really work it out there. Its much quicker to walk 4 miles in the countryside than it is in the city for example.

1 mile is 8 furlongs. 1 furlong is 220 yards, making a mile 1760 yards. This, in metric, is equal to 1.609km.
