So I want to find some kind of short term work before I go to uni in late September. Unfortunately I've had a bad streak with work. I don't want to go into details but some part time jobs like warehouse picking are soul crushing and bar work went wrong for numerous reasons. I need a bit more money to be secure for 3 years at Uni. What sort of temp work can I do ATM? Supermarkets like Sainburys and Aldi want long term employees so even finding a summer job at a supermarket near to me isn't all that simple.

Literally the answer to this is whatever your local area offers. You'll need to research daily for temp jobs and apply for whatever comes up. Not super useful advice but literally the answer is to go and look.

Look online or go into employment agencies.
