so i'm crap at making conversation with people and wondered if i could get some tips. say you're speaking to someone over text or online and you've only just started talking, what kind of things do you talk about and how do you start the conversation going rather than just 'hi how are you' blah blah.

i'm a girl who plays a lot of video games so that's how conversations with guys tend to start but i've realised that that seems to be all i talk about with guys, what about you girls that aren't into video games? just looking for some ideas and topics as i'm so bad at talking to people!!

It really depends on the person you are having a conversation with. What are they into? That's what you need to find out first. You need a common ground for a good conversation flow. Most of my convos consist of discussing movies, books, aspirations, news, family, pets, food(I mean who doesn't love food) As you can see there is plenty to talk about!
