Could someone please tell me what is a maximum household income to receive Parents’ Learning Allowance? I applied for that and I am not gonna get it. My husband is working, income about 15500£, I am unemployed, we have a one child.
I called to Student Finance. I have been informed that I can appeal from decision, but honestly I am not even sure is it right.
    Thank you in advance,
    Agnieszka

http://webarchive.nationalarchives.g.../dg_174795.pdf this is from 2012 (so now out of date) and implies (on page 12) that the income (after mortgage) for the household has to be below £3,473 for a family with Two parents, one child.

It seems as though in reality PLA will only really apply in cases where both parents are students (or where the person applying is a single parent).

    Hi Agnieszka,

Funding for grants for dependents which includes Parent's Learning Allowance, Childcare grant and adult dependent grant are all calculated based on your partners income, there is not a specific amount they can earn as there is different disregards we take off the household income. If you started your course after 13/14 academic year we would remove £8473 off his income and then calculate the grants you may be eligible for and take this away from each other, if you wish this to be explained over the phone call us on 0300 100 0607. As there are alot of different things that will affect this.

    Thanks.
