Is Brunel any good for Maths?

Not actually thinking of attending there but here's the thing.

My gf is wanting to go to Imperial, but she's from Germany and gets no maintenance loan therefore her parents have to pay for it, meaning they want to make sure if she comes to England she will be getting a better education than in Germany.

Looking at all the league tables, Imperial is always a lot higher than even the best unis in Germany, yet her dad yesterday spoke to a friends daughter who went to Hannover uni (not specifically good) and did a year at Brunel. Now she said at her 3rd year in Brunel they were learning stuff they had learnt in the 1st year at Hannover, making my gfs dad believe English unis must, therefore, be really bad.

So basically me and my gf need to prove to her dad that using that example is a bad idea, since (hopefully) Brunel doesn't have a good Maths course, ergo going to Imperial would still provide her with a better education.

Quite a long post, so sorry for that, but cheers for any help,

Chris.

In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise, Brunel received a Grade 5 for Applied Mathematics, which is the second highest grade you can get.
Maths is rubbish at brunel, only go they if anyone wanna do engineering
I can tell you Imperial is a brilliant university for anything they offer. A degree from Imperial is very highly regarded by employers and the job prospects of a degree from there are very high compared to Brunel and Hannover. Remember though the stuff you actually learn isn't even used again when you finish uni. People only do a degree to further their study in something they are interested in. You probably will never use the stuff you learn at university ever again. It is the skills you gain which is important and Imperial graduates are very highly sought after by employers.
