I am trying to run a .jar file on my Debian 7 VPS.

If I left click on the file in the download section on Iceweasel / Firefox, the .jar file will execute and run.

However, when I try to left-click run the file from downloads folder / desktop nothing happens.

I am using Java Oracle 8

    Any ideas / help?

Do it from the command line: java -jar filename.jar

    Should work. What's the error?

If there's nothing obvious then enable the Java Console and let us know the error that you see in the logging when running the program again.
