Hello guys, my partner and I are applying for NTU and UON, we both have jobs and cars and have been looking for a house in the Nottingham area, we stumbled upon a lovley 2 bedroom that suited everything we needed and more!

We of course asked for more details as we was told the deposit would be £600
    And rent 575 per month.

We receive a reply 24 hours later with this pretty shady response and my partner and I are disgusted to be frank, we are students we cannot afford to dish out 4K for a silly
Apartment just because we are students, frankly they must have had a few bad experiences with students and bump the prices up to keep us away, but I am a general manager of a store, my partner is also in retail and we are both in our minds professionals who are seeking a house for university.
Please look at this photo and see what you think guys.

    Thanks, BenName: image.png

    Hi Straydous,

Personally from my experience, that seems a bit dodgy! You shouldn't have to give that much money up front as a student.

My recommendation is if you want to have a chat with someone about this (who will know way more than me) I would advise giving the accommodation team a ring at: +44 (0) 115 848 2894

Also the Students' Union has some accommodation guides that you could have a look at, which specifically look at what you need to be careful of when going with private landlords (make sure your deposit is protected etc.) I would recommend having a read of them as well.

I hope this helps, and if you have any questions please let me know!

Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
