    Hi,

Maybe a stupid question but what is the difference between written examination and in class test?

I just completed my first year in computer science (thank god for that!) and I was going through the modules for my second year and 3 modules have Assessment: of 2-hour written examination and an in-class test.

All modules in my first year were coursework and in class test only. I always thought the two were same thing.

For your sake you can get away with using them interchangeably. The only major difference being the moderation. For the test you'll most likely be taken to one of the labs with sufficient computers and you'll sit the test through your VLE (Moodle), accompanied by 1-2 lecturers to oversee the test.

As for an exam. I'm pretty sure you have an idea of it from past experience?

EDIT: If the test and exam are in the same module, you'll likely find the test to cover a particular section of the module, whereas the exam will cover everything you've studied throughout the module, if not a great section of the module
