You didn't stop??

Some prat did that to my dad's car a couple of years ago down a narrow country lane... my dad was SO livid, he drove around the area for an hour looking for a car with a missing wing mirror - we found the guy that did it and suffice to say my dad scared the **** out of him. The ******** ended up giving a fake name so my dad had to replace his wing mirror himself. He wasn't best pleased.

Do you think I'd be asking this if I did? T'was hardly the most suitable place to stop at 5.15 anyway.

Well obviously they don't know it was you. It's unlikely they got your registration details. Though you really should find out who it was if possible. You probably didn't do much damage, but it would be worth checking.

They were in the car so if they got my number then they would know it was me  And my number isn't exactly hard to remember either so it's highly likely they did.

Cortez I thought you were a lad?

If someone did that to my pride n joy I'd chase after them

Same way as if I caught anyone bashing their door into my car I'd be expecting the money to repair it from dentmasters or the like or I'd report to the police

Some moron did that to me do, shards of glass chipped all the door. Went around looking for them, but didn't find the car.

What do you mean by that?

So does anyone know what would happen if they did report me to the police? :s-smilie:

If it was a person, would you have stopped, considering how awfully unsuitable the timing was???

For goodness sake, I hope you do get the old bill knocking on your door. You don't just crash into a car and drive off. Common sense must've missed you on your way out of the gene pool.

*IN THEORY* failure to stop at the scene of an accident. Doubt they'd bother to prosecute tho unless you find some jobsworth cop. Most likely they'll just put you in contact with the person whos car you hit and expect you to make good any loss.

Um, yeah, that was me, sorry about that .

But seriously, you should've have stopped.

This indicates to me, you're a pussy.
Cortez has clearly stated that it wasn't the best place to stop, so don't be too mean.
Really, you should have tried to stop, even if up the road a bit, in case they wanted you to stop, even to say, "Nah, its alright".
They could contact the police, but thats a bit extreme.

Even pulling over "up the road" was kinda out of the question. His lane was not moving at all until the next lot of lights and my lane was clear straight through. Once I was into my lane and passed the lights I was going over the river (no place to stop) and once over that I was in a totaly different direction to what he was going in!

Hard to explain the situation with text so I'll show you with google maps...

Oh well, we'll have to see what happens.

If it genuinely wasn't safe to stop, then I can sympathise a little. It's happened to my Mum and Dad before and neither of the people stopped (even though it was safe to do so!). It's just something the other person will have to take on the chin I guess, and I doubt you did any damage to be honest (car wing mirrors seem to be remarkably resilient....except those BMW ones that swivel upwards not inwards; they smash into millions of pieces when hit!)

Well you have troubles judging distances and you drive a Mini

I suppose if you'd seen their reg you could have always called the police and explained to cover your back if you couldn't stop, but I guess it's a bit late for that now! Doubt you'll hear much if it was only scuffed or just got knocked out of place, depends on the driver though!

That comment isnt completely churlish... they are a real sod to work out where you are when looking out the back window!
thin green liens on a map full of green is a shocking decision
