Being Bi

This is a bit of a weird question and people may not be able to answer. Its one of them things I'm not sure how to word very well so sorry if it doesn't make to much sense.

If you were/are bi would you tell your parents and your close friends? Even though your 'rents are a bit homophobic? I told my closest friend today that I was and she went "Ewwww I'm not doing anything with you so don't get that idea" Which made me very

I am. I told my close friends and parents, but only because I have a girlfriend. I don't really think there's any obligation to say 'hi, i'm bi', same as there isn't one to say 'hi, i'm straight'. Your friend is silly.

It's up to you whether you tell your parents, mine didn't care at all, but if yours are a bit homophobic it's certainly different. I bet you'd feel a lot more comfortable if you did tell them, it's a bit of a weight off your mind, being able to really be who you are.
Your friend is a bit annoying sayin that, i don't tell my parents anything so if i was bi i wouldn't tell them but my closest friends would know because they would understand and never judge me.
it depends how you feel about coming out with it. if u want to tell someone tell some of ur close friends that you trust. and if you are close to one parent in particularly you could tell them and ask them to speak to the other one if u felt better doing it that way than sitting them down and both telling them
I dont see why its anyone elses business but yours, but most of the time (in my experience anyhow) people can make an educated guess as to whether you're bi/straight/gay etc.
Lots of things can give the game away, doesn't mean its bad, but if you can be open about it then people are less likely to stereotype/talk behind your back

You don't have to tell them unless it's very obvious.

or that you'll have just anything...which isn't really the case.

I wouldn't tell your parents unless you actually plan on having a girlfriend, and i don't think you should go and shout it out to your friends, but it doesn't mean you should hide it.

I am, and I've told one family member, but not my parents. A few friends know, but not all.

Your friend is indeed very annoying.

Unfortunately, biphobia is very common and not treated with the same sensitive as homophobia is in society.

If you want to tell your parents, you should. Tell whomever you feel comfortable telling. Personally, if and when I am asked about my sexuality, I would happily say that I'm bi, and if e.g. I see a good looking guy in a bar, I would express my feelings to my friends with me in the same way as I would if it was a girl, e.g. shes hot and etc. However, I do not go out of my way to tell people lol.
hmm tough one. Me personally, I wouldnt tell my parents. I may tell my close friends, or they'd just know anyway. But it could make people are you a bit weird.

If I were bi, I'd only tell my parents if I was in a same sex relationship, incase they bumped into us somewhere (eg in a restaurant) and saw us kissing/holding hands etc. I would only tell my friends if I knew they had a hot friend that they could hook me up with.
I'm bi. I told my best friend after she'd just come out but that was it. After that, I felt there was no point whatsoever in telling people, especially my family, about it unless I actually had a girlfriend.

Of course then I got a girlfriend lol. Just told my friends like in normal conversation and none of them had any problems with it (that I know of :p:).
After about a month of being with my gf, I decided I should tell my parents, so I told my mum over MSN  How classy. Of course she turned around and told me her and dad had already figured it out :p:

I've been with my girl for over a year now

So yeah. Its not a necessity to come out unless you get yourself into a relationship. Oh and the greedy thing does get annoying sometimes :p:

its not something ive told my parents i just wouldnt feel comfortable teling them
my friends and boyfriend know and they are fine with it
Anon as the person I speak of uses the board

A friend at school was bi. I mean, she still is ofc , but we're not at school anymore. No probs at all to be honest, I'm open and all that. It only became a problem if she was quite... out there with it, you know? I mean actively grabbing people's boobs! It's like.. why do it? I mean, I would react the same way as if a guy friend did it randomly, too, especially when I had a boyfriend, lol.

But your friend is probably just a bit shocked by the initial 'revelation' I guess.. she'll come round in time I think.

Way I see it, as a straight girl, is I have guy friends, like I have girl friends. Why should a girl friend of mine who could potentially find me attractive get any different treatment than a guy friend of mine who could potentially find me attractive? No need to feel weird about it. Unless you just don't like people being attracted to you full stop.
