You don't need engineering work experience before starting an engineering degree.(Not least because it can be hard to find.)
Work experience barely makes any difference. Focus on doing well in your exams and learning more about the subject yourself, if it really interests you
It definitely makes a difference. It shows you're motivated and passionate about the subject. For top unis which get many more students with their min requirements than they can take, it can easily make that extra difference (I'm sure it did for me).

Hi,

If you're wanting some sort of work experience, you'll need to be very proactive in finding somewhere. Without much university experience, this can be difficult, especially without going through a formal application/interview route.

Don't confine yourself to just looking at, say, aerospace companies, look at places which can give you relevant experience (e.g. within software/electrical engineering/design and manufacture). There should be plenty of relevant companies around those areas, so it's just trying to find somewhere willing to give you some work experience.

Hope this helps,
