I'm a postgraduate student from India and I'm considering taking up a studio at Sheffield 3 run by Derwent Students. I'd love to hear your opinions/ comments on the quality of the accommodation provided and also the general atmosphere.
The quality of the accommodation is decent (heard from friends who lived there). Bills are already included in the rent, so stinging would not be necessary. The location of the accommodation is near Infirmary Road, which has a giant 24-hour Tesco nearby, so great for grabbing a late snack at the wee hours. However, that area is known to be somewhat risky at night, as it is deserted and relatively quiet.
Residents are most likely to be international students and going to the Information Commons is relatively convenient.

Hey, thanks a lot!
I'm trying to make a decision on whether I should move into Allen Court or Sheffield 3. Which would you recommend?

My opinion is that moving closer to the city centre would be better, as you will be closer to amenities and that you will feel safer walking back home as the streets are better lit. So I would recommend Allen Court. There is a Tesco Express close by and if you like more variety, you could just walk a bit more to Tesco Metro which has better variety of groceries.
For me, Sheffield 3 is a bit deserted and quiet for my liking.
Seeing that you are a postgrad, you might want to be cautious when choosing either Allen Court or Sheffield 3. It has a significant undergraduate population, so expect noise and din when there are parties and pre-drinks.
The postgrads (the ones I know) are split. Some don't mind the noise and buzz that comes with uni accommodation but those that mind would choose to rent a studio apartment from a property agent, as those apartments offered by property agents tend to be working adults so it would be more peaceful and quiet
