In Pres. Obamas introduction of Hillary Clinton he said she never quit and that there would always be another goal to reach.

It got me to thinking that, considering we're broke now, How could anyone actually make promises to millions of people that would require huge tax increases on everybody. That led to me asking what is the goal anyway? Absolute equality?
Once equality is attained it will have to be maintained. It's something that once acheived cann then move on to the next goal. . It's going to be and incredible burden on taxpayers. be celebrated and

Absolute equality is unattainable in practice.

This is exactly my fear. That continuing to apply Robin Hood tactics,( take from the rich.....), in the quest of an unattainable goal, will weaken the countries ability to amass enough capital to achieve anything of significance and still remain a free capitalist society.

Absolutely. We've got countless theorists sitting in ivory towers telling us how the real world 'should' be run but have little to no knowledge of how the 'real' world actually works. Taxation is not the solution to the woes of any nation; if anything, it's just pure laziness.

I found your last sentence an eye opener. I had never thought of taxation as the lazy mans activism. you are quite right.
We have to start getting creative when it comes to entitlements. There is simply not going to be enough revenue made available without massive tax increases. I know we better start getting creative when it comes to entitlements. Somewhere between 2030 and 2040 mandatory gov. spending on entitlement programs will exceed total gov. revenues.
If social security can be privatized why not welfare. Imagine those trillions going back into the econmy
