    Hello everyone

I accepted an unconditonal offer and firmed it but i've had a serious change of heart...Is it possible whatsoever for the university to release me from the offer.

Yes. Contact your firm as soon as possible, but before that, ask the other firm if they have space left for your degree course and ask if they are willing to take you.

    Email them
I don't recommend this as it's going to take too long. I contacted a university once and it took them two weeks to reply. I recommend phoning them for a quicker reply, and do this before results day because on results day they will be extremely busy and engaged.

I recently did this (though my request was a bit more complicated). I started of with an email. They took ages so I followed up with a phone call and the woman on the phone told me send an email. It's a security issue I think. Maybe the best course of action is emailing them with the request (including ucas numbers and university id number etc) and then following up with a phone call.

The quickest way to do things is to phone up and then follow it up with an email....and then phoning again an hour later to check if the email has arrived.
