18 And Having Hair Loss.

Hi all,

I am having hair loss everyday. I have not suffered from any severe stress nor have any such conditions been in the family. I was up until recently a heavy gel user which i stopped due to the hair loss. I lose about 4 hairs every time I soothe my scalp. Its really getting me down and i have bald patches with very thin hair on the point my sideburns meet my hair line. I Was wondering what steps and who i can see about the problem as university is not far away and i really don't want to lose any more hair.

Thanks

Well I don't know if there is any way of reversing/stopping it, but hair loss generally is coming earlier and earlier for a lot of men. The only thing I can suggest is looking into whether there is some kind of nutritional deficiency in your diet that might be causing it.

everytime i brush my hair some comes out, same when i wash it, i would say its just natural unless its suddenly become much worse?

arg why is typing so hard today...

Perfectally natural you know, it just happens to some of us, even at this early stage. Three of my cousins (all brothers) started to lose their hair by the time they were 20.

Pretty much nothing you can do about it unless you discover the cure for bauldness (apart from a rug).
Eat well, chill out, and don't use any hair products besides shampoo.

I'm suffering from hair loss as well, and its very annoying. Merely 19 for **** sake!

There's this programme which Boots offers to treat hair loss. I haven't tried it myself, but a few mates have and they say that they have seen an improvement. It cost £90 for three months, but you have to stay with them for the rest of your life if you want to sustain the hair. I think I'm going to give them a go as well.
if it rly worries u, u could always ask ur hair dresser?
MATE GO TO ADVANCED HAIR STUDIO

Adavanced Hair Studios gives you a fancy wig, their ads are very misleading

Anyway don't worry about small bald patches or thin hair at the temples that happens to all men, it's basically a receeding hairline. However, a receeding hairline and male patterned baldness are two different things. Not all men will actually lose the hair on the top of their head while 96% will at least have some amount of hairline recession, this happens between the ages of 16 and 29 on average but does not always lead on to actual male patterned baldness.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. There was a program about this on TV a while ago and the dude that was losing his hair found that the women actually preferred him without the hair.

If I was you, I would just shave it all of the moment it looks like I have a bald patch.

Yup, I've noticed my hair has started to receed slightly above my temples lately (slightly more so on the right side which is odd, lol), and I'm only 18. Although to be fair I have two mates who also have the same thing so I'm not that bothered. And as you say, a lot of men get a receeding hairline, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're going to go bald.
Yup mines on only the right too mate but the thing is i want to wear gel i just can handle the dry look makes me feel i dunno how to describe it, it feels like im missing something if you know what i mean. I'm gonna try leaving out the gel for a whole month and having daily conditioner applying to my hair and see what the results are. Thanks for the replies everyone makes me feel a bit better knowing that it isn't a rarity.

Cheers again
its quite common, my hairline has been reseeding slowly for the past 3 years, i've also noticed that my hair is getting a bit thinner on top as well, there is a history of baldness in the family so i know i'm one day destined to have a bald patch.

for someone who is 19 it doesn't bother me too much because i know that there are other people who have similar problems.

Matt Lucas the comedian has been completely bald since he was 8 years old, so there are other people who have had worse problems and there are so many of us with reseeding hairlines its really nothing to worry about.

if in doubt shave your head, or grow your hair a lot longer so its all covered up. styling your hair with putty can actually be good for it... or so i was told! and you can style it to cover areas that are thinning

If your that bothered about it get yourself referred to a Trichologist, they deal with hair loss.
I always think of Zizou as an example of balding...might happen to me too as I know that my father was pretty much bald at the age of 23. Can't really change it so have to accept it.

Soak about a tablespoon of rice in water for about 10 minutes and then eat the rice. Have it once every other day. You'll see a vast improvement in hair growth and it will make your hair really strong as well  It was recommended to me and i can really say it does work.

Receeding nicely thanks, and I'm 18! My dad and surviving grandad are bald as you like, and have been since they were in their mid 30's. I think I'll give up now, and go slap head

Lost mine when I was 17, it grows in a cul de sac fashion but I just shave it.

One hair cut, all occasions: job done!
