Your 4th one is missing a carbon.

Also it's butane, not methylpropane. The UV won't break C-C bonds.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking: it can't possibly be branched. So why is the answer 6 then? I don't get it.

    Thanks

Geminal isomers are 1,1-dibromobutane and 2,2-dibromobutane, the 3s and 4s don't count as they are identical.

    The others are 1,2-dibromobutane, ...

    Can you do the rest?

How did you manage to come up with 2,2-dimethylbutane?

    I only manage to come up with 4: 1,1-dibromobutane, 1,2-dibromobutane, 1,3-dibromobutane and 1,2-dibromobutane
    Thanks

Those are all good (assuming you meant 1,4 for the last one). What about the isomers without a bromine at the 1 position?

One last question : can you have 3,3-dibromobutane or is that the same as 2,2-dibromobutane ? Thanks
