Hello!I want to start this thread, so that anyone can share what they think about their university, and compare it to what the other students have experienced! You should mention: Name of University, what amazed you about it, what's the accommodation like, how's the workload, teaching style, support services, night life, friends, academic and social lives, would you join if apply again if you could, what you don't like about it, what could be fixed, etc.
Add anything that get on top of your mind and is exceptional about the uni.

    Thank you!

    Hello John
I think this is a fantastic thread to start and I really like the idea behind it, hopefully students will take to it as I believe it'll help potential students.

I study at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln and I'm about to start my Third Year. As of yesterday, the Independent released the results for the ranking of universities based on Student Satisfaction and my university went from 87th last year to the top 10 this year, ranking at number 5 - an amazing leap!
What amazed me about it was the homely feel of the campus - as it's a fairly small campus and everything is located on one site so it's really nice to study at. The accommodation was fantastic - always clean and any problems were always sorted out quickly. It allowed for a good social life of making friends and good facilities to support yourself when it comes to living alone. On my course the workload was fairly intensive. There was always something to be done and plenty of studying to do and it was only every now and again it would get a bit much - but at the end of the day, that's personal experience. The teaching style was top notch. A mixture of lead lecturers and guest lecturers and always ensuring they specialised in an area that they knew well which really helped for certain modules - also, they are always available and there for support - be it course work or personal situations. As I mentioned the lecturers were fantastic for support but at the same time, the university provides a number of student services that are available to every student and it really goes along way to making students feel comfortable whilst studying with them.

The nightlife in Lincoln is fantastic and always lively. It's easy to explore and you'll soon discover the amazing nightclub that is 'HOME'. This is pretty much where everybody goes and there is always plenty of 'themed' nights to attend but they are a number of night clubs and nightlife to explore - amazing during Freshers. There are plenty of social opportunities at the university with the SU always running events on campus and activities being planned through the year - plus we have a cinema on site so that's always good to attend with friends! When it comes to academic and social life - I believe that's down to personal experience and how you handle work loads etc but I personally believe it's fantastic and if you get the balance right, you will enjoy your time there and benefit from it a lot. What I join again? Most certainly - I couldn't imagine another university being right for me. As much as I love the campus being small, it's also one thing I think could be better as sometimes there is a lack of rooms to rehearse in for my course and I think this could be improved but that's being picky.

All in all, it's a fantastic university if you are looking for 'the city' life style of being a student but with your campus contained in one beautiful campus but if you are looking for a London university life style, this probably isn't for you!

I go the Notts uni and when I visited I just got this gut feeling that this was where I wanted to go! I liked the campus (it's beautiful)and the fact it wasn't right in the city! I liked the course itself and the facilities they had for my course! It just felt right for me! It's really hard to explain and I feel my gut instinct was correct as aftwr competing my first year I an so happy and have no regrets about my choice of university!

I stayed in self catered halls which had an ensuite and it was pretty much what you expect from standard halls! It had what you need to live and the rooms themselves were nice and modern and you could really out your own stamp on it! It wasn't the most luxurious of places but it was not the worst halls I have seen by far! I was pretty happy with my halls!

On my course in first year the workload seems to be a lot lighter than a levels! You still had to put the work in and keenness to of things but I found it most certainly managable! I had more contact hours than most and I actually liked this as like to keep busy and have a sense of routine and I genuinely enjoy my course and learning about it! The lecturers were great (the majority) if you ever had an issue you could email them or go and talk to them and they would be very willing to help you and wild try and put you at ease if you had any worries!

There's great nightlife at Notts, there's lots of clubs and bars and there's something going on pretty much every night! There's different things for people with different tastes so there's something for everyone! It's a great student city with a lot to offer!
Overall I have loved my first year and am very excited and cannot wait to go into my second year!
