Because of how the health system works in the UK.

Dentists will tend to work mainly privately, whereas doctors will tend to work for the NHS, which is obviously public sector.

Don't agree with the contention in the question. Both junior doctors and dentists are relatively poorly paid Initially but when they grow their career to a senior level they are well paid - substantially above national average. Both careers can lead to very high incomes depending on ability and amount and type of privately paid work taken on.

If theyre salaried they're not. Obviously you do get GPs that work privately but other specialities can also work privately, there's nothing stopping them. And anyone who says any speciality of doctor is over paid can just pipe down. They go through all that training and studying, long hours during their early training. As GP many are under lots of pressure, particularly as there are a shortage of GPs in this country and even more patients.

It depends what kind of doctor and what kind of dentist you are comparing. Generally doctors will earn more over their lifetime than dentists. Initially junior dentists may earn more, but higher level dentist have a noticeable drop in earning compared to higher level doctors.
