So tired all the time.

Hey.

Lately I have noticed that I have been tired quite a bit during the day. I swear i've never been this bad before. I get about 8 hours sleep which is the recommended amount but for some reason I still get quite tired.

I find myself tired at work and my eyes just feel like they wanna close and I wanna have a little nap for a bit. I like to go to bed quite early - usually about half 9/10 cos I get tired but then I do get up quite early - about 7/7.30/8am.

Any ideas what i could do to cure this?

Thanks x

Are you doing much in the day? If not, then this could be because you are not exhausting yourself enough before you go to bed.

Sparkle - do you do much exercise during the day? do you drink plenty of fluids etc? i found i was like this during uni and was told it was to do with my diet and way of life. I now sleep 7 hours a night and get up wide awake

How did you change your diet?
Are you eating properly? If not that could affect you.

Also one of a million medical complaints could be to blame. Loads pretty minor and some more serious.

If it's worrying you, which I'm guessing it might be, then go see a Doctor for a check up - can't do any wrong. And if there is nothing serious, then it's good to know that

cut out major things like junk food, kept off the binge drinking. Ate more brown bread, pasta, fruit etc. Felt MUCH better after a few months:smile:

I find that the more sleep i have, the more tired and lazy i can get in the day, especially when i have nothing to do.
When i have to wake up early and go to work i feel much better, and having a healthier diet does help too.

I go to the gym 3 times a week like I have been doing since November and i'm generally eating ok. I have the odd bouts of eating crap but not much. Mostly at the weekends. I don't drink much at all. So I don't know what it could be. On my days off I usually have a bit of a lie-in but even then I usually wake up about 8, 9 if i'm lucky.

I cannot recommend drinking mineral water in place of whatever you currently drink enough.

i'm tired, but my new job rocks. lots of working hard physically, then lots of sitting infront of a pc screen, then lots of listening to the radio.

woo.

i can't do gyms. they seem too plastic. i'd rather go for a run out in the country or do exercises at home than go to those sweat houses :frown:

OP you sound just like me at the moment, I'm exactly the same. Since returning from uni for the summer, I've been in a 9-5 job every day and though I'm getting plenty of sleep (and eating pretty healthily) I'm just so tired and weary all the time.

The advice is really helpful everyone. I might try and do some more exercise and see if that works...

There are a number of factors which could be causing it, but I’d recommend going to your doctor and getting some blood tests done – it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

My brother was exactly the same - he slept for between eight and ten hours, yet was always tired and never had energy. The doctor in his case wasn’t such a great idea, his response was ‘Maybe you’re thinking about it too much?’, yet still sent him for loads of blood tests but couldn’t find anything wrong. Now, however, he has recently changed jobs and is feeling much better.
