i was just wondering, when talking about work experience in your personal statement, should i just give the name of the practice or and account of the owner and laoction as well??
Also, does anyone have any advice for writing an effective personal statement??

i heard its a waste of valuable space mentioning names of places/people u shadowed etc, just write what type you undertok eg elderly home, and then write about what you gained/how it helps in applying those skills to a medical career.you could also mention any procedures/operations u saw.

Writing a personal statement isn ot easy, best thing to do is to bullet point as much things as you can that relates to Dentistry, and what you think would be good.... write anything you can think of, and when you start to write it... select bulletpoints which you think would be best...

I did include the name of the practice... but nothing more than that... As sohail_delboy said, theres valuable space for personal statement, if you need to cut dowen on letters, remove the name of the practice...

The more unique and special the personal statement.. the better

Thats right, thing is during the interview the interviewers may ask you the name of the place where u did w/e or names of people u shadowed (if they know the hospital or been there- the guy asked me during my King's interview as I didn't mention the places I did w/e), so don't worry about names, and remember, they WILL ask you about WHAT u learned from the experience not WHO!

Practice names and locations are pretty irrelevant. Its already been said but its about what you took from the experience more than anything else.

Put the name and address in the employment section with start and end dates. Mention in the PS that it was a week/day and you're covered. Personally I think these details add to the PS especially if you shadowed a well known consultant.

i thought that was the section in which you just put down paid employment? and not work experience/voluntary work?
