Hi, I am in need of career advice. I graduated in psychology in 2012. At the time I was focused on becoming a clinical psychologist and volunteered with various mental health services. I finally got a job in a school before starting my job as an assistant psychologist. Now, at 26, I have lost my enthusiasm for psychology and find myself feeling very stressed and unhappy by the thought of continuing. I fear I have wasted years of my life and don't know what to do. I've tried to explore other career options, but still feel stuck and under pressure. I'm quite an anxious and shy person. Can anyone offer any advice please? I would really appreciate it as I don't have anyone else to discuss this with properly.

You haven't wasted years of your life- you have valuable workplace based experience which will help you to get a new job. Plenty of people change careers, as an example my Mum is a teacher and works with many teachers who came to teaching in their 40's, having had other careers first. It really is a case of thinking about what you do enjoy and researching what jobs are out there. For example would charity work be of interest? There are all sorts of charities with all sorts of roles from communications to events to fundraising to project management to policy work and probably more I haven't listed.*

Thanks. I know you're right, it's just hard to have perspective sometimes.
