I got my first bank account at 11 as my mum paid my £5 a week pocket money into that to teach me about banking.

I was recently at a cadet meeting (well last year) and suggested to the rest of my peers not to rely on bank cards as the military camps we use didn't have Cashpoints.

I was shocked that out of 30people aged 12-18 I was the only one at the time with a bank card.

What age would you say is normal to get a bank account?

Since then, I receive all of my payment thru the bank account and bought anything cashless..
