Just got a new tv, sony bravia in 4k and my brothers xbox works fine on it, my ps3 doesn't. I know you need to manually reconfigure and I've done the video reset thing over 100 times today still no luck. It managed to get it work for about 10 minutes then it cut off to no signal. I know it's not the console because it worked on the old tv. I think it has something to do with the definition the ps3 is trying to set the hdmi cable to? When it first worked, at the top under the source it said "720p". I feel as if the hdmi cable when I do the reset on the console is trying to do 1080p or 1080i which might not work. I managed to get it to work by using the composite cable on a small tv then selecting hdmi through there but I want to be able to do it without having to rely on the tv... help?

for reference, the tv is sony bravia model: kd55x8509c

My eyes kinda glazed over trying to read your post, so I will just say connect just the HDMI cable to your TV and the PS3. It should be fine, ut you can set it up in settings, just choose the auto settings. If you have a Full HD TV (not an 'HD Ready' one) then it should do 1080p fine.

If the signal is going suddenly after some minutes, maybe it's not in properly? Sometimes a cable can feel like it's in when it's not. If it's not that, then it's either a broken cable, a broken TV or a broken PS3 and you would have to try find which it is by testing all of those on other things if you can.

My old tv has a busted hdmi port which is why i switched to composite cable, not sure what else to do unless i try it on another tv :/
