We know that clearing can be stressful, so we do everything we can to give you the information you need. If you have received an offer to study through clearing, you may be invited to attend a clearing open day.
Here’s how to get the most out of it.
1. PLAN YOUR TIME CAREFULLY
Grab a schedule or open day guide when you arrive and use it to plan your day. Make sure you have time to speak to lecturers and students from your subject area. You can also attend talks on subjects like financial support and go on a tour of the city.
2. GET A FEEL FOR THE UNIVERSITY
Attend a welcome talk to find out more about the university and the opportunities you will receive by studying there, and take a tour of our campuses to see the facilities available.
3. ASK PLENTY OF QUESTIONS
This is your opportunity to find out everything you want to know about joining a university. It may not be a university you had considered before clearing, so make sure you write a list of questions and ask as much as you can.
4. FIND OUT WHY THE STUDENTS LOVE IT
Wherever you go, there’ll be students ready to answer your questions about any aspect of university life. No one is better placed to tell you what it’s really like to study here, so grab a student ambassador and ask them why they chose to study there, and why they love the university and the city.
5. IF YOU NEED DIRECTIONS, JUST ASK
There will be plenty of staff members and student ambassadors around to ask for directions so if you need to, just ask. Some universities also provide shuttle buses to take you from campus to campus, or into the city.
6. EXPLORE THE CITY
Wander through the student areas and the city or town centre, find a park or green space, visit the local shops and generally get lost exploring. It's the best way to get an understanding of the type of place you'd like to live in.
