Anything around the Docklands is good.
Places to avoid would be Newham and Hackney.

Although an "E" postcode, but not really in East London as such, Chingford and the surrounding areas of Woodford, Barkingside, Buckhurst Hill are also good clean roads. The area is covered in mansions, so wide roads, no traffic and lots of scenery!

I did the Goodmayes test route once, and the Barking test route once too
did my test at barking..... not too bad.... no hills or anything.... probably the only thing to worry about is the roundabouts . i had my test at 9am so the examiner didnt even bother taking me to any of the roundabouts due to it being so busy!!!!!

Thanks Walshie, that makes a lot of sense! :-)

And Mellanie which centre have you passed in if you have done so, I hope? :-)

No-one seems to have passed first time in East London that I know of :-/

By the way, a question for everyone... Is it wise to change test centres if you have failed once before in that centre? Or would it be better to stick to that centre as the possibility of passing increases?

Both CHingford and Woodford have some skiiiiiiiiiiny roads that even the most expereinced drivers hate... its friggin scary, because if you mess up the car will go off a high hill haha, but i doubt the instructor will take you to these places, they are rare in the areas i think. If anything avoid Barking and Ilford, as if he takes you down a residential street, you will die if there is incoming traffic with both sides having stationary cars parked.

Ah well, I passed in Barking. Yeh, there are loads of roundabouts, but Goodmayes is just a nightmare anyway!

I passed first time at Goodmayes - but there are some scary dual carriageways around there, and some lunatic drivers :frown:

Wanstead has something like the second highest test fail rate in the country, purely because of Charlie Brown and the Gants Hill roundabouts.

I did mine in Chingford and it was pretty smooth, two thumbs up!
I did mine at Chingford.

Apparently its easy to pass there.
Roads are nice and easy there in my opinion.

  Mine is in Wanstead!! Yeah I've heard it's very difficult to pass there, and I've yet to meet anyone who's passed in Wanstead test centre first time! Dammit why does mine have to be there :frown:

Charlie Browns is ok for me...Gants Hill though....I think it's just coz I rush too much!

Wasn't that a concentration camp? :s-smilie:

I've got a test booked for Goodmayes in October. Lots of people do past first time there - out of my instructors last five tests, four passed and only one failed.

Goodmayes isn't bad I suppose. Wanstead has roundabouts

I had my test in Wanstead on the 22nd and I failed because of the bloody roundabout. I think it was the Gants Hill one... (the one with the bridge on top?) I was really angry, cos other than the roundabout, I did everything else perfectly well. Damn, and I can't find any more cancellations there, so I wanna try Goodmayes now. But the thing with Goodmayes is that you have to learn bay parking, and I haven't learnt that at all! Is that easy? And does Goodmayes also have gay roundabouts like Wanstead?

Ahh sorry to hear that :frown: Wanstead definitely tough route!

The bridge on top?? Think that might be Charlie Browns....that has a motorway on top....Gants Hill hasn't got a bridge on top! Yeah Charlie Browns is quite tricky. How did you go wrong on the roundabout, if you don't mind me asking??

Thanks. Well I was coming from Wanstead, and I had to take the 3rd exit, straight ahead, and I was in the middle lane. So I got messed up and when my exit came near, I quickly signalled left, and tried exiting, but that was dangerous because there was a lorry behind me. And by the way, when you go for your exam in Wanstead, make sure you don't have this examiner called Steve lol. He failed me and my other friend too.
