I am currently 23 years old and I have recently become a fully qualfied mechanic. I have recently been getting down because I have realised that I have wasted alot of time doing something that I do not want to persue, The money isnt good and the work is very hard for what you earn, I also feel like I have more potential than is needed and I feel like I am wasted as a mechanic.

I recently applied on NATS for the position of air traffic controller trainee as this role really interested me but only to discover that I had failed the second initial test which means that I cannot apply again for 24 months. As far as I am aware there is no other realistic way to get into an ATC career.

I would be willing to attend uni as a mature student for the right career but I just havent figured that out yet. I am pretty interested in technology/maths/computers that sort of thing which is why the air traffic controller role interested me (and of course the hefty salary). I would appeciate any suggestions that comes to mind as I feel like I have taken the completely wrong career path. I should mention that I am prepared to travel anywhere and even leave the country to get a start in a good career. Thankyou in advance.
