    Writing in unitary form
    1. 1/2: 4
    2. 3/8:2/10

    I do:

1/2 divided by 1/2 = 1 4 divided by 1/2

\rightarrow 1/4 x 1/2 = 1/8

so 1: 1/8

2nd question 8/3 x 2/10 \rightarrow 4/3 x 2/5 = 8/15

answer 1:8/15

I looked at the answer and it seems the 2nd ratio number for each of my answers are flipped but I don't understand why.

Well the 1st ones right but you should write it as 1:8 instead of \frac{1}{8}:1

Your second answer is correct as well; 1:\frac{8}{15} \equiv \frac{15}{8}:1
If you want to check this; rather than multiplying both sides of the ratio by 8/3, try multiplying both sides by 10/2 (which is 5)
