So I'm genuinely panicking now about A2 results and wondering what the best way to go about resitting would be? Here's my situation:

    • My college has closed. Mine was the last A-Level class. I cannot do resits through them.
    • I sat the old syllabus. AS retakes are no longer happening (which I wouldn't be doing anyway), but I think they are still allowing A2 resits?
    • If I need to resit any it would be the following: OCR Physics A G484, AQA Chemistry CHEM4 and/or CHEM5. Potentially the practical (unit 6) modules of AQA Bio and Chem. These are just guesses, but they're the ones I felt went really badly, without having seen the results.

How would I go about this? And how can I go about funding it, as I'm guessing this will cost me an arm and a leg?
Unfortunately I don't know how much help I will get on the day as one of subject teachers died during the start of my exams, so he can't offer advice, and very few people from my college have ever gone on to higher education, so their advice on university and A2 is....sketchy, at best. So my other subject teachers may not be of much help – if they even show up.

Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

You can also find the Exam Thread list for A-levels here and GCSE here. :dumbells:

Hiya! I'm going to tag in The Learn Ranger to give you some practical advice about this.

I would say please try not to worry about your results this much though. Whilst it's always good to have a back-up plan, you have probably done better than you think

Have you applied to uni this year? Have you thought about looking up some clearing courses?

Sorry about your college and the general situation - sounds very unlucky for you.

Yes, you have one shot at A2 resits next summer - practical units may be a bit trickier to repeat ...

As an example, AQA Bio is just over £14 per unit to enter this year but you will need to find a local centre where you can sit the exams and will have to pay for this service eg invigilators.

Funding may have to be a part-time job or similar as it seems you're probably older than normal sixth form age.

If you have problems getting decent advice from the college, I would recommend TSR on results day. We have 14 UCAS-trained volunteers in the office as well as more around the country. If necessary, send me a PM and I'll make sure you get support.

    Good luck!
