So I have heard that if you go onto your accommodation application and the status changes to awaiting allocation, you have basically got a place in uni. Is this true?

UK A-Level students' A-Level results aren't with the Universities until tomorrow (Sunday) onward. Universities are strictly bound to not do ANYTHING that could give results away if they do they can get into trouble as that would be unfair on other candidates.

I would say this is untrue as a result of this.

It also says awaiting allocation means "Your application has been verified and will be allocated once your entry into the University has been confirmed" so it doesn't strictly mean you've been confirmed yet.
