We also have the wonderful cool Floella Benjamin as our Chancellor, I got my degree from her just the other day

(so you can tell your friend to put that in their Exeter-hating pipe and smoke it :p: )

I love Floella

Also, for the musically minded among you - Will Young and Thom Yorke. So there. Oh and apparently someone from Basement Jaxx.
Royalty wise both Peter and Zara Phillips (grandchildren of the queen..)
TV stuff - Nick Baker (:p:), Frank Gardner (BBC's security correspondent), and Katie from the Apprentice
Also - fictional people wise, the banker from Deal or No Deal  (according to wikipedia, anyway).

One of the characters in Jonathan Coe's "The Rotters' Club" also went to Exeter, if you're into that.

(Pointless trivia ahoy!)
Please tell me that Exeter wouldnt be as stupid to do something englishly related and name it after her, because i may have to take militant action against it.

...I always thought she went to Edinburgh.

This is one to tell my half-scottish, exeter-hating friend tomorrow!

Just thought I'd share.

Congrats, she also lives 5 minutes up the road from me.

No, she got an LLD (Dr of Laws) from Aberdeen in 2006 for her "significant contributions to many charitable causes" and "her many contributions to society". Apparently. According to wiki.

^^^ thanks. some guy working in the porters lodge on "the other campus" told me that worthless bit of information.
Reply 10
haha, damn those porters :p:

Was it Gulam? The guy's a legend!
i don't know the names i'm afraid. in all fairness, the guys are really friendly there and i get on well with them. though, i was popping in every other day asking for a package being sent and, after 4 weeks and several emails to the sender, i discovered that the porters had it behind the desk all along and forgot to log it. doh!!!! it's typical of st lukes though - the whole place is crazy, i hate it! but then again, it's grown on me over the years, like a fungus.

haha

Gulam's the porter from Malawi who sits in Cornwall House and bears a passing resemblance to Mr T...
wow - ive not met that mad a-team look-a-like. sounds like a king!
Reply 14
He is. Trust me. You should wander down there and meet him sometime

If you see a battered grey Toyota Corolla in front of CH with a Spurs scarf in the back window, Gulam's in the house
Reply 15
I love Gulam too, what a legend

One would hope, however, that she donates mountains and mountains of her millions to the English dept.
